Behind the Scenes of Hello Coffee’s Website Transformation

It’s always a special experience when I get to collaborate with a business that values its community as much as it does its product. That’s exactly what made working with Hello Coffee such a rewarding project. The local Apollo Bay brand, which pivoted from running a beloved cafe to focusing solely on roasting and growing their coffee offerings, came to me with a vision: update and streamline their online presence while staying true to the essence of their roots. This is a look at what went into creating a website that blends their rich history with their exciting new direction.

A New Chapter for Hello Coffee

When I first met Gareth and Justin, the heart of their business was immediately clear: a passion for quality coffee, a deep love for their community, and an ambitious vision for growth. Since closing the doors to their popular cafe in 2019, the guys have shifted gears toward roasting, and their delicious blends are now reaching local cafes and supermarket shelves. Their success and momentum were undeniable, and their website needed to reflect that.

Crafting a Community-Focused Website

The key to this project was understanding and reflecting the spirit of Apollo Bay, a place that Gareth and Justin hold dear. Their love for the local area and its people is integral to their brand, and I wanted that to shine through in every part of the website. The challenge wasn’t just about making the website look good; it was about ensuring that every page told a story of community, local support, and an evolving business model.

From the outset, we worked together to ensure that the final product stayed true to their vision and goal. It wasn’t just about design but about crafting an experience that users would feel connected to — a site where they could find local stockists, learn more about the brand’s journey, and feel part of the growing Hello Coffee family.

Collaboration with Local Talents

One of the things I’m most proud of in this project was the opportunity to work with a talented group of local creatives. The teamwork that went into creating this website was a true reflection of what Hello Coffee stands for — local, collaborative, and deeply rooted in community.

Maddy from Apollo Bay Bloom helped bring the concept and styling to life, while Katey from Katey Shearer Photography captured the stunning visuals that perfectly complement the vibe of the brand. The location, thanks to Maryanne from Apollo Bay Breaks, provided the perfect backdrop to the photoshoot, with Jonte Carlson’s food styling and props elevating the entire experience. And of course, Jordie from High Tide Surfboards added a unique, coastal touch with fire styling and props that captured the essence of Apollo Bay’s rugged beauty.

The team wasn’t just behind the camera; the beautiful, glowing personalities of Jonte, Jordie, and Joey helped make the shoot come to life, showing the true spirit of the brand — it’s all about having the right people in the right places.

The Value of Investing in Longevity

One of the key things I always emphasize to my clients is the importance of creating a website that not only looks good now but stands the test of time. A well-designed website is an investment, one that continues to pay off for years to come. It’s not just about looking trendy; it’s about crafting a digital space that evolves with the business and serves as a lasting representation of its brand.

With Hello Coffee, the goal was clear from the start: create a website that would still look fresh and professional even four years down the road. Yes, investing in a high-quality, custom-designed website does come at a cost, but the return on investment is immeasurable. It’s not just a one-time expense — it’s an asset to the business. A good website is a powerful marketing tool, a customer-facing hub, and a key player in any brand’s long-term strategy.

When you invest in a site that’s thoughtfully designed and built for longevity, you save yourself from the need for constant redesigns or maintenance. Plus, a website that looks modern and functions flawlessly can elevate a brand’s credibility and trustworthiness, which is crucial as businesses continue to expand.

For Hello Coffee, the result is more than just a pretty site. It’s an online presence that will grow with them as they expand their reach, showcase their community spirit, and continue to serve their loyal customers. And this is the type of investment that pays for itself — in increased brand recognition, customer trust, and ultimately, business growth.

the Creative Spark…

Seeing the project come together has been an absolute joy. I’m beyond proud of what we’ve achieved with the Hello Coffee website. It’s more than just a place to buy coffee; it’s a reflection of a brand that is grounded in community while looking ahead to an exciting future. I can truly see this brand growing, and with this new website, I have no doubt it will continue to thrive and expand its reach.

Thank you to Gareth, Justin, and everyone who made this project such a success. It’s been a fun ride, and I’m excited to see where Hello Coffee goes next!
