DOWN SOUTH
The collection draws inspiration from countless trips "down south" – moments of beach serenity while I watch my
partner surf, bush walks, camping, and beach gatherings at sunset. Cold dips in the ocean at sunrise, exploring Rockpools, and diving for abalone contribute to my deep connection with nature. Every encounter leaves me in absolute awe of the surrounding beauty.
"Down south" signifies some cherished places like the Elliot, the Aire, and Castles Cove. It embodies our life in southern Victoria, with its captivating cool climate rainforest and rugged hills of the Otways. Living in such a breathtaking environment, I am forever grateful, and I aim to showcase this beauty through my art.
Working on these pieces for about 10 months, my techniques have evolved, over this time. I've enjoyed experimenting with new approaches and incorporating different colors. Excited to share this journey with you, I look forward to presenting my art.
Artist Bio
Steph, nearing 30, has been immersed in art since an early age. After studying art in high school, she ventured into floristry, providing the creative outlet she needed. Running her own flower business for over a decade, she transitioned away as it became labor-intensive during her pregnancy in 2022. Amidst the journey of expecting, Steph rediscovered painting, fueling her creative energy. She showcased her talents in her first solo exhibition at the end of 2022 and is now thrilled to present her second solo exhibition, titled "Down South."
