WINTERWILD WEBSITE: A DIGITAL HOME FOR APOLLO BAY’S FIERCEST FESTIVAL

WinterWild is more than just a festival—it’s a force of nature. Rooted in the raw beauty of Apollo Bay, this winter gathering is sustained by the hard work and passion of local volunteers, driven by a deep love for art, music, fire, and storytelling. This year, under the direction of Bill Hurley Fraser and the Wild Ones (of which I am a proud member), WinterWild took on a bold new vision—one that needed a digital home to match its intensity.

Crafting a Website That Evolves With the Festival

Having collaborated with Bill on previous festival content and programming, I knew that WinterWild needed a website that could:

  • Provide clear, engaging information for festival-goers.

  • Highlight the artists, volunteers, sponsors, and programming.

  • Feature an evolving gallery of festival moments.

  • Grow into a fully-fledged platform, with a future e-commerce store in the works.

Working alongside the fabulous Jade, whose striking poster design set the tone for this year’s festival, we crafted a website that is simple yet powerful—designed to expand as WinterWild continues to grow.

A Celebration of Fire, Art, and Community

Winter in the Otways is all about FIRE and warmth, and we wanted to capture that essence in the site’s design. With its moody visuals, dynamic content, and space to evolve, this website is built to serve the festival for years to come.

This project is a perfect example of how a festival website doesn’t need to be overly complicated—it just needs to be adaptable, visually striking, and deeply connected to the spirit of the event it represents.

THE VALUE OF INVESTING IN LONGEVITY

One of the key things I always emphasize to my clients is the importance of creating a website that not only looks good now but stands the test of time. A well-designed website is an investment, one that continues to pay off for years to come. It’s not just about looking trendy; it’s about crafting a digital space that evolves with the business and serves as a lasting representation of its brand.

With WinterWild, the goal was clear from the start: create a website that would still look fresh and professional even four years down the road. Yes, investing in a high-quality, custom-designed website does come at a cost, but the return on investment is immeasurable. It’s not just a one-time expense — it’s an asset to the business. A good website is a powerful marketing tool, a customer-facing hub, and a key player in any brand's long-term strategy.

When you invest in a site that’s thoughtfully designed and built for longevity, you save yourself from the need for constant redesigns or maintenance. Plus, a website that looks modern and functions flawlessly can elevate a festival’s credibility and trustworthiness.

For WinterWild, the result is more than just a pretty site. It's an online presence that will grow with them as they expand their reach, showcase their community spirit.
